LOOKING BACK ON 2016
In 2016 Theatre Novi Most is proud to have produced a variety of new works here and on tourIn August 2016, we produced TOO PUNK TO CARE in collaboration with University of Minnesota students at the Minnesota Fringe Festival; in March we presented our highly acclaimed production of THE SEAGULL by Anton Chekhvov directed by Vladimir Rovinsky at the Southern Theatre as part of ARTShare; in March we were also happy to present workshops in Michael Chekhov acting techniques with visiting Russian master teacher ELENA KUZINA and were honored to be part of the BRECHT / WEILL FESTIVAL at the Southern Theatre performing excerpts from the English language premiere of FATZER by Bertolt Brecht. Finally, in June Lisa Channer’s original performance RANT was invited to perform at the FURY FACTORY FESTIVAL OF ENSEMBLE THEATRE in San Francisco CA.We were grateful for the support of the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, The Southern Theatre, The University of Minnesota and most of all, our audiences, artists and donors.

In 2017 Theatre Novi Most will present a full season that includes a major bilingual world premiere, a new adaptation of a European classic and a Russian play reading series in collaboration with the The Museum of Russian Art.THE MASTER BUILDER by HENRIK IBSEN - APRIL 10-23, 2017Adapted by Vladimir RovinskyProduced as part of ARTShare at the Southern TheatreCast features Pearce Bunting, Barbra Berlovitz and Shelby RichardsonThis play by the legendary Norwegian writer is highly charged with secret desires, stunning poetic language, Freudian and Nietzschean motives and… there are those “trolls”.DANCING ON THE EDGE by ADAM KRAAR - SEPT 2017The cast includes Theatre Novi Most co-founder Lisa Channer in the role of Isadora Duncan and Twin Cities based actor Sasha Andreev as her Russian husband, the poet Sergei Esenin.Directed by Vladimir Rovinsky, this bilingual play tells the story of the tumultuous pairing in 1920 of two of that era’s most fascinating artists. Created with the support of the Isadora International Institute in NY, the play includes live piano music and Duncan dances set by IDII artistic director, Jeanne Bresciani. DOTE will tour to New York next fall after it’s Minneapolis premiere. (exact date and location TBD)RUSSIAN PLAYREADING SERIES - FEB and MAY 2017TNM is proud to begin a regular Russian play reading series in collaboration with The Museum of Russian Art featuring professional Twin Cities actors.
